The Wall Street party seems unstoppable. The S&P500 (NYSE:SPY) and the Dow Jones Industrials (NYSE:DIA DIA) reach one new high after another; NASDAQ (NASDAQ:QQQ) is racing towards the old pre-dot.com crash levels; and a number of momentum stocks trade at astronomical PEs.
Active traders and investors pay more attention to the speeches of Federal Reserve officials rather to company CEOs��ocusing on a single source of cheap money, the Federal Reserve, interpreting every lackluster economic report as good news.
Once again, emotions begin to take over reason, with individual investors rushing to join the party, fearing that they have missed the train to the Promised Land.
What could spoil the party?
Here are two plausible scenarios:
First, a geopolitical event that puts into question globalization like an open confrontation between the US and its Asian political and military alliances on the one side and China on the other��all Street got a taste of this scenario last week with US challenging China�� new air defense zone. Large multinational corporations will suffer the most in such scenario.

The QS-H150 has automatic and continuous self-calibration. It monitors its environment, senses changes that would affect its accuracy, and re-calibrates accordingly. The system requires no user intervention and no calibration cons! umables. The detection process begins with the collection of a sample with its vortex collector. After collection, the sample is ionized photonically and analyzed using ion mobility spectrometer (IMS) technology. The presence of a threat substance is indicated by a visible and audible alarms. The threat substance is then identified and displayed on the integrated liquid crystal display (LCD) screen. When detecting a threat substance, the QS-H150 rapidly alarms. This real-time detection limits equipment contamination and allows for fast clear-down.

QS-B220 Benchtop Explosives and Narcotics Detector uses dual IMS with non-radioactive ionization for the detection and identification of a range of military, commercial, and improvised explosives as well as narcotics. When used in conjunction with an IMS, the QMS detector senses the molecular weight of the chemical species resulting in an orthogonal detection method in which a more fundamental characteristic of a substance is measured. Hyphenated Detectors
Depending on the application and the number of interfering background chemicals, it may be necessary to incorporate additional orthogonal detection methods. The combination of multiple sensors in series is known as employing hyphenated methods. By measuring different properties of the same species, interferents are separated from target species for a deterministic detection and identification and have minimum rates of false alarms. It is developing hyphenated systems employing conventional ion mobility, differential mobility and quadrupole mass spectrometry. Shares of Rockwell Collins (COL) have rebounded today after selling off yesterday on news that it would make a billion dollar acquisition.
AFPYesterday, Rockwell Collins said it would purchase Arinc from the Carlyle Group for $1.4 billion, as the U.S. defense company seeks to bolster its air communications business. Rockwell’s stock fell 1.5% yesterday on the news.
Sterne Agee, however, came out in support of the deal today. Analysts Peter Arment and Josh Sullivan note that the deal, while expensive, will go a long way towards boosting the company’s aerospace business in the years to come. They write:
The purchase price of $1.4 billion results in an estimated transaction multiple of ~12x-13x 2013 EBITDA, which is at the very high end of the range of transaction multiples for aerospace M&A deals. However, the scarcity value of the type of business of ARINC coupled with the growing theme of connectivity in aviation warrants a more strategic valuation…
With an improving outlook with aerospace profits becoming 60% of the mix by FY15 vs. 50% today, COL can return to supporting a higher valuation.
The analysts are such big fans of the deal, that they raised Rockwell Collins to a Buy from Neutral.
The credit rating firms are not so thrilled by the deal, which will be financed entirely with debt. Yesterday, Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s both said they would reevaluate their debt ratings for Rockwell Collins, and this morning� Fitch followed suit by placing it on watch for a downgrade. Fitch said:
Fitch’s primary credit concern is the timing of COL’s return to stronger metrics, including the risk of sequestration and of a weaker economy that could constrain the company’s earnings and cash flow and slow a reduction in leverage. Yet there is a fourth major competitor in the commercial aircraft market -- Bombardier (NASDAQOTH: BDRAF ) -- and it has its own advanced-technology airplane. The company's CSeries plane is expected to make its first flight as early as this week. Yet the CSeries put up a goose egg at the Paris Air Show, failing to notch a single order. While Bombardier has nearly 200 firm orders for the CSeries, the company will rapidly burn through that backlog once it starts CSeries mass production.

Why are there talks about slowing down?
In one of my previous articles where I was speaking of Bombardier�� (BDRAF) troubles because of the drop in oil prices, I had mentioned that analysts are expecting the oil prices to drop as low as $60 a barrel. It seems that time has come as Brent Crude oil price touched $60.79 a barrel according to NASDAQ. The following is chart shows the fluctuations in the Brent Crude Oil Spot Price.
